The sass & bide trench of Fashion Trends of the Week

For some of us, the idea of wearing cut-off denim short shorts and heels (during the day, no less) is a little daunting. Place a foot wrong, and you could end up looking rather less than sophisticated. But Jess at Tuula combats any missteps with two additions: one of them she’s naturally blessed with (aka, ultra long legs) and the second can be picked up at Zara. Namely, a relaxed tailored jacket that keeps things both casual and smart.

There’s something so enticing about a simple gingham shirt. On the one hand there could be an association for that country lifestyle of rustic simplicity, on the other there’s a tie to the mod 60s movement and musical subculture of the era. But an off-duty Constance Jablonski is themed for neither of the above. Instead it’s just a easy untucked shirt, denim shorts, and flat sandals.

Forget the crested blazers and college ties for a minute. A polished Preppy look may be undying, but it can always do with a refreshing makeover. There’s a subtle prep feeling to this outfit of a buttoned-up shirt with a floral scarf instead of a tie; a sharp grey blazer; and a pair of light coloured sneakers. Mixing in some torn denim adds the most casual of twists, while a neat ponytail and minimal makeup – only a dusting of white eyeshadow shimmering at the inner corner of the eye – is ultimately youthful.
